Hello Everybody
I'm configuring a small cluster of 7 machines (dual
core, gigabit switch)
i followed that link to configure the netbooting
environment:
http://wiki.systemimager.org/index.php/HOWTO_Net_Boot_with_SystemImager_3.4.1

but i got this problem:

Listening on LPF/lo/<null> Sending on LPF/lo/<null>

DHCPDISCOVER on lo to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval

DHCPDISCOVER on lo to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval

NO DHCPOFFERS received.
No working leases in persistent database - sleeping.

I couldn't configure the network interface using DHCP.

Killing off running processes write_variables

and for troubleshooting this error, i followed that
link:
http://oscar.openclustergroup.org/faq.installation.sis-kernel

i downloaded the new kernel but i still have the same
problem.

i got the following information from the terminal that
appears after the error:

lsmod didn't return any information

Are you using some version of OSCAR, or just SystemImager? If you are not
using OSCAR, what are you trying to do with SystemImager? OSCAR will set up
this kind of thing for you, if you are using a setup which looks a lot like
a Beowulf Cluster. The more it looks like a homogenous cluster, the easier
OSCAR will be to use (vs setting everything up by hand).

Does that mean there is no solution with systemimager
??

network card, is this right ?

please ppl, help me, i'm stuck besides that i'm a

What I am saying is that OSCAR uses SystemImager to build computational
clusters, and configures it automatically. I am also saying that I
personally don't know enough about how SystemImager works in general to
answer your question besides suggesting that if you use OSCAR to set up your
system, that it should do so correctly and avoid this particular problem,
whatever it is. Then you could, if you were interested, look at the
resulting config files and perhaps see where your mistake is. If you are
new to Linux, this is an easier place to start.

If you want help from the SIS list, then you are going to need to tell them
everything you can about your exact setup (in particular about what hardware
and SIS versions you are using) and what exactly you are trying to do with
SIS. It is not clear what you were trying to do, what you actually did,
what hardware you are using to do it, or what problems you encountered.
This makes it very hard to help.

It seems that your network card is not correctly detected. Which version
of systemimager are you using. If it's recent enough I would suggest to
use UYOK (http://wiki.systemimager.org/index.php/UYOK).

yes, this was the problem. i'm now using the latest
version of systemimager (3.7.6), and the problem
doesnot occur anymore, thank u very much.

now another problem (for sure:) ) has occured, it is:

mkreiserfs /dev/hda5 || shellout
mkresierfs 3.6.19 (2003 www.namesys.com)
Failed to open '/dev/hda5': No such device or address
A pair of credits:
The Defensa Advanced Research Projects Agency(DARPA,
www.darpa.mil) is the primary sponsor of Reiser4.
DARPA doesnot endrose this project; it merely sponsors
it.
Joshua Macdonald wrote the first draft of transaction

plus he invented the r5 hash (also used by the dcache
code). Yure Rupasov, Anatoly Pinchuk, Igor
Kransheninnikov, Grigory Zaigralin ... are former
contributers of the project.

when i tried to use mke2fs instead of mkreiserfs, i
got:
mke2fs: No such device or address while trying to
determine filesystem size

Maybe /dev/hda5 was not correctly created or not present into your
initrd. Can you post your autoinstallscript.conf? Are you using the
standard BOEL (the kernel shipped into the RPMs) or UYOK?
